Bungendore Sands Extension Project

  • Client Name Grantham Park Holdings Pty Limited
  • Location Bungendore, NSW
  • Services Environmental Impact Assessments

Summary

R.W. Corkery & Co.’s experience with sand quarrying was used in the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement for Bungendore Sands Quarry with the resulting approval providing for a further 20 years of sand extraction operations for our client Grantham Park Holdings Pty Limited.

Background

Grantham Park Holdings Pty Limited approached R.W. Corkery & Co. to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement to support an extension of the existing Bungendore Sands Quarry. The proposed activities included the extraction, processing and transportation of up to 400 000 tonnes per annum of washed sand products from a new extraction area.

The new extraction area is located immediately adjacent to the Quarry’s existing extraction area in close proximity to Lake George and known areas of Aboriginal heritage significance.

Solution

Due to our extensive experience with sand quarrying operations and the modification of existing quarrying activities, R.W. Corkery & Co. were able to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement and provide robust advice regarding:

  • Aboriginal heritage assessment and management requirements
  • Surface and groundwater controls
  • Product transportation and road use constraints
  • Post-extraction rehabilitation activities

The Project was approved on 9 March 2021 and provides for a further 20 years of sand extraction operations at the Bungendore Sands Quarry.
