Bowdens Silver Project – Referred to the IPC
Posted by admin
In December 2022 the Bowdens Silver Project was referred to the NSW Independent Planning Commission (IPC) for determination. The NSW Department of Planning and Environment (DPE) has completed its assessment of the Project and ultimately recommended approval subject to conditions of consent. In its assessment report the DPE stated:
Overall, the Department considers that the project achieves a balance between maximising resource recovery and minimising impacts, and the benefits of the project outweigh its residual costs. The Department also considers that the project is in the public interest and is approvable, subject to the strict conditions of consent.
RWC is proud of its long involvement with the Project and celebrates what Bowdens Silver has achieved so far. A large team of consultants are involved in these projects and this Project has benefitted from a dedicated team from Bowdens Silver, RWC and numerous others. We approach the IPC determination process with confidence and with our full support behind approval of the Project. The Bowdens Silver Project is Australia’s largest undeveloped silver deposit and one of the largest globally. It represents an important opportunity for the MidWestern region of NSW to attract investment, employment and with the recent commencement of further scoping work for an underground extension, benefit from the long-term presence of the mining industry.
