Tomago Asphalt Plant – Modification 1 Approved

RWC is pleased to have provided planning and environmental management support to COLAS NSW to secure a modification to operations at its Tomago Asphalt Plant that will permit an increased annual production of up to 250,000 tonnes of asphalt material and the inclusion of recycled materials including crumb rubber, glass and steel slag in its products.

This will support COLAS to enhance its product range and encourage a greater level of resource recovery and steps towards a circular economy. The increased production levels will allow for the continued supply of asphalt materials to meet the current and future demands for infrastructure projects within and surrounding the Hunter Region. The modification application was approved by the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure in February 2025 as the plant is classified as State Significant Infrastructure.
