New Standard Mining Conditions and Reporting Requirements Come into Effect
Posted by admin
On 2 July 2022 the transitional period for large mines (mines which require an Environment Protection Licence) under the Mining Amendment (Standard Conditions of Mining Leases-Rehabilitation) Regulation 2021 ended bringing into force new standard mining conditions and a range of reporting requirements. RWC has worked closely with clients throughout 2022 to prepare the new reporting including: Rehabilitation Risk Assessments, Rehabilitation Management Plans, and Forward Programs. The new requirements also bring new annual reporting requirements, including preparation and submission of GIS files through the new Mine Rehabilitation Portal, and a greater focus upon progressive rehabilitation and rehabilitation monitoring / records. RWC will continue to work closely with clients to assist them in addressing these requirements and some of the challenges presented by the new systems.
The transition period for small mines (mines that do not require an Environment Protection Licence) is 2 July 2023.
