Dreamland Quarry Receives Approval for Extension

Posted by admin

RWC belatedly announces the Dreamland Quarry, operated by Terra Farma at Evans Plains approximately 11km south of Bathurst, was approved for extension by the Western division of the New South Wales Joint Regional Planning Panel (JRPP) in September 2014. This approval featured in the September 2014 edition of Quarry Magazine (view here).
The application, submitted to the Bathurst Regional Council and supported by an Environmental Impact Statement prepared by RWC, sought to extend the area approved for the extraction of weathered granite, gravel and sand, increase the annual production of granite based road building, construction, landscaping and decorative products, and progressively backfill and rehabilitate the quarry site to provide for future agricultural activities.

The JRPP’s approval extends the anticipated life of the Dreamland Quarry by at least 25 years, increasing approved annual production to 100,000t. Noise generated by the quarry will be managed in accordance with a Noise Management Plan, runoff will managed in accordance with an Erosion and Sediment Control Plan and rehabilitation of areas external to the main quarry area undertaken in accordance with a Rehabilitation Plan, all prepared by RWC.
Restrictions on the area of active extraction (1.5ha) and processing operations (1.0ha) will be managed through the preparation of Extraction and Rehabilitation Plans for the quarry. RWC is currently working with Terra Farma to prepare these plans.

RWC looks forward to continuing to work with Terra Farma as production from this locally and regionally significant quarry increases.
