Canowindra Limestone Mine Opens “Built by Local People…for generations to come”

Westlime Quarries officially opened the Canowindra Limestone Mine today, Monday, 22 October 2018. The Mine will extract up to 250,000 tonnes annually of limestone to produce a premium ultra fine agricultural lime, as well as RMS specification road base for up to 27 years, with many decades of production likely after that date. RWC has worked with Westlime since 2013 to identify, scope, design and obtain the approvals for this operation. As Niall Blair, the NSW Minister for Trade and Industry noted in opening the Mine, this project has been built by local people, using locally sourced materials and expertise and will benefit the local and wider community for generations to come. Andrew, Nick, their father Aiden and the whole Westlime team are to be congratulated on their perseverance and commitment to driving this process to this point and we look forward to seeing the benefits flow through the whole community for decades to come.
