DP&E release Secretary's Assessment Report for the DZP

R.W. Corkery & Co is pleased to announce that the NSW Department of Planning & Environment (DP&E) has made publicly available the Secretary’s Environmental Assessment Report for Australian Zirconia Ltd’s Dubbo Zirconia Project (DZP). The report has been prepared to assist the Planning and Assessment Commission assess the merits of the Project.

The assessment report prepared by the DP&E confirmed the Environmental Impact Statement prepared by R.W. Corkery & Co and identified that the Project would result in a range of economic benefits, including:

 - developing a new resource in NSW
 - capital spending of $1.06 billion
 - annual spending of around $50 million in the local economy;
 - providing jobs for up to 250 people during operations;
 - the payment of around $600,000 to Dubbo Council under a planning         agreement; and
 - the payment of around $12 million to the State each year in royalties.

The assessment report also confirmed that the Project is unlikely to result in any significant environmental or social impacts.

A final review, to be undertaken at the Planning and Assessment Commission, will consider the assessment of the DP&E and determine Australian Zirconia Ltd’s application for development consent.
